This is a dual function part for those of you that have rubbermount Harley Sportster (2004 and up) with mid controls. The fully TIG welded assembly takes place of your bolt-on highway pegs and serves the function as a standard highway peg would. However, this mount also serves as a crash bar or as some call it, a crash cage. The front crash bar does what it sounds like it should, it protects the front section of the bike in case of a crash or if the bike happens to fall over. The assembly of the Bung King highway pegs crash bar was designed and built for some local stunt riders to protect their bikes as they were learning new tricks and didn't want to destroy their new Sporty's in the process. The Sportster crash cage features replaceable Delrin sliders on the ends to help the bike slide over the pavement as opposed to taking hold of the bike while it is sliding and causing it to high-side. A lot of R&D has gone into the exact placement and length of the Sportster crash cage to ensure enough lean angle so as not to impede other types of high-speed cornering and still provide the right amount of protection. May not clear some factory pipes. The Sportster highway bars are available with the California shaped side plates shown or also with a standard rounded side plate. Allow 1-2 weeks for delivery of the Bung King highway pegs crash bar.
